Making YouTube Shorts With AI Video

YouTube Shorts uses the same 9:16 vertical, sub-60-second format as Reels and TikTok, so the core AI video advice carries over: one subject, one motion per clip, generate in the right aspect ratio, add text afterwards.

Two things differ in practice. Thumbnails still matter for Shorts in some surfaces; a background-removed cutout of yourself on a bold background, built the same way as a regular YouTube thumbnail, gives you a custom frame instead of a random grab from the clip.


